McAfee and Windows Server High Impact Issue

This info was posted earlier today on the Microsoft Ask the Performance Team blog. If you’re hearing of issues or if you are troubleshooting poor performance or server role failure on Windows servers with McAfee products installed, there is some published info here that might be relevant to you.

In short, McAfee Access Protection and Buffer Overflow Protection services are known to cause severe performance degradation during scanning or monitoring of several common Windows Server processes. The recommendation is to disable and remove these McAfee services. See the article for removal instructions.
